Massive Music Entertainment
First engineer in the company: built the engineering function from scratch, initiated the microservices architecture, and led a cross-functional team of 8 while staying hands-on — delivering a music ERP for composer, song, and royalty management.
As Technical Lead & Assistant IT Manager at Massive Music Entertainment, I was the company's first engineer — I built the engineering function from scratch and led a cross-functional team while remaining hands-on every day.
About This Role
Starting with a blank slate, I initiated the microservices architecture, chose the tech stack, and designed the company's core business applications and their supporting systems — then led the team that built them.
What I Faced
There was no engineering function, no architecture, and no tooling. I had to establish everything from zero, design a music-industry ERP with genuinely complex domain logic, and lead a team of eight spanning backend, frontend, DevOps, vendors, and data — without stepping away from the code.
How I Approached It
I initiated a microservices architecture, selected the stack, and built a music ERP for composer, song, and royalty management — including music IP ownership transfer (IP chain) and integrations with Soundcharts, Spotify, YouTube, and TikTok for trend metadata. I managed CI/CD, containerization, and code review to keep everything scalable.
What I Did
Engineering from Zero
First engineer in the company — built the engineering function from scratch, initiated the microservices architecture, and chose the tech stack.
Cross-functional Leadership
Led a team of 8 (2 backend, 1 frontend, 1 DevOps, 2 vendors, 2 data) while staying hands-on building features and supporting each member technically.
Music ERP
Designed and built an ERP for composer, song, and royalty management, including music IP ownership transfer (IP chain).
Third-party Integrations
Integrated Soundcharts, Spotify, YouTube, and TikTok to pull trending metadata and traffic.
Business Support Apps
Built a potential-composer search for the membership team and a song-suggestion system to help licensing match music to client ad needs.
Data Enablement
Advised the data team (scientist, engineer, analyst) on data usage and pipelines.
Under the Hood
React.js, Next.js, and Vue.js.
Node.js, Express.js, and Go across microservices.
MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and Elasticsearch.
Docker, Kubernetes, Vault, and GCP with managed CI/CD and code review.
Impact & Outcomes
Established the company's entire engineering function from scratch as its first engineer.
Led a cross-functional team of 8 while remaining a hands-on contributor.
Delivered a music ERP with IP-chain ownership tracking and major streaming-platform integrations.
Projects from This Experience

Composync — Music ERP
Composync, the internal music ERP for managing composers, songs, and royalties — including music IP ownership transfer (IP chain).

Massive Music — Hunting Dashboard
A dashboard to hunt and evaluate potential composers for the membership team.

Massive Music — Microsite
A public-facing microsite supporting Massive Music's business and marketing needs.

Massive Music — Song Brief
A song-suggestion system helping the licensing team match music to client advertising briefs.
What I Learned
Building from zero and leading at the same time taught me to balance architecture with empathy — the systems and the people both needed foundations, and staying hands-on kept my technical decisions grounded.
